Truck Driver Training Program
I'm 40 years old and I had been a police officer for 13 years and I was looking to do something different. What else can you do with a degree in Law Enforcement? There aren't a lot of jobs in the small town I live in. I could've gotten a job in the cities but I didn't want to commute back and forth to work each day. Before I began training at Transportation Center for Excellence, H-Trans told me that if I got my CDL they would hire me. I decided to train at TCE because they offered a short program. I was working full time and if I had chose the 16-week truck driver program at the local technical college, doing both would've killed me. I was able to pay for tuition with a private loan through the school. I enjoyed the training I received and thought it was fun. The instructors and staff were all friendly and easy to work with. I had no truck driving experience so the behind the wheel training really helped me with the CDL test. After graduation I purchased a reasonably priced truck and two weeks later I was driving over the road with H-Trans as an owner operator. Following that I contracted independently. Currently I work with Landstar Ranger, Inc. where you can choose where you want to go, what loads you want to haul and when you want to haul them. I like the freedom of truck driving because I can pick and choose my own time off and go where I want to go on any given day. I haven't worked on a weekend in a long time. The view from my window is great too.
